2 October 2017

We've now moved to The Salvation Army Hall in Swan Street and we had a great night with curry, supplied by The Spice Lounge - just down the road - and a great talk from Dom Clarke.

Thanks for all who came and a special thanks to those who helped with the washing up and clearing up!

All clean and tidy - before everyone arrives!   People helped themselves to curry and rice...

The they all got stuck in!

Smart phones used to find answers to the quiz

Dom had us all spell-bound!

Dom Clarke first updated us on what he was doing in Borden, which may become bigger than Petersfield and with the church at the centre of things.

His talk was based on the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as men who stood up to authority. The key section was:

...if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel chapter 3 verses 15 to 18

They believed that God could save them, not that God would save them.

Dom encouraged us to make a stand on our Front Lines, to stand up for what we believed in and not conform to the authority and conventions of the world.

Flags Quiz

Everyone was given a paper with flags on it - they had to be named and checked by someone else in the room. Notable was the amount of cheating that went on as people were finding answers on their smart phone!

How many did you get right - with or without help from the Internet?
