CVM Links News Encouragement Helping Out Funnies

4 September 2017

Our first meeting was at the United Reformed church and some 20 of us enjoyed fish and chips or pie and chips followed by a range of biscuits.

Max Cross gave a wonderful talk based on Matthew chapter 10 - sending out the disciples - from which he drew three points

  • Go with authority: Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

  • Be focused: Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.

  • Go with brothers to support you

Before the meeting started everyone was given a list of the activities, achievements, interests or skills of others in the room (and some who weren't there!) and everyone was busy finding out who had done what.

In April 2018 Max moved on - see the News page

Getting to know each other

In order to encourage people to chat to each other on the first night you will be asked to write down an activity you’ve done, an achievement you’ve made, an interest you have or a skill you possess – as obscure as possible! Fill in the form at the bottom of your introduction and return it to John Studd.

These will be listed (see below) and everyone will be given a list. Everyone will then go round and ask, “Which number are you?” All you have to do is give them your number.

The person asking the question would then write the other person’s name on the sheet of paper, then move on to the next person – though you may wish to chat about what they are, have done or can do!
